		<description>when i lived in boston, this same thing happened to me on the &quot;T,&quot; somewhat regularly i might add. i did some thinking about this and couldn&#039;t quite figure it out either.

after a while, i came up with a theory. i think that some people are generally silent on public/city trains and buses because people are tired and are trying to relax or conserve energy. i think others are silent because they are afraid to talk to others for a number of reasons (the most being fear of violence). all kinds of media, tv shows, and movies push these stories of public transportation violence so i definitely don&#039;t blame people for feeling this way but it sucks. 

people using public transportation are strangers and a lot of people are scared of the unknown. over time, if i&#039;m being honest with myself, i realized that i didn&#039;t speak on trains sometimes for these 2 reasons either ... sad</description>
